Joe: That's great advice. When I order parts, I usually put together a whole list of items and shipping is not as large a % of the total.

Great tips and pictures!
I started to order the horn wire lead online from the linked website. When I got to the checkout shipping was $15. I found that I could order through the local dealer and receive it for less than the cost of shipping. Just a money-saving option for others with cold hands. :)

Brian:

The OEM heated grips connector is a switched 12v power source. Your assumption is correct; this wire should not drain your battery while the bike is off. I would charge the battery and disconnect the grips. A voltmeter could tell you if the battery is losing a charge without them, or if the power loss is only occurring through your new accessory.

Hey just came across your site, but I'll be coming back to it.

I installed a set of the Symtec heaters using the factory power source (Option #1 on this page). I fired up the bike, turned them on, and after a few minutes could tell they were working so I turned the heaters off and shut down the bike. The next day the bike wouldn't start due to a dead battery.

I was in my garage reving the bike a during the test and can't see the battery draining that quick so it looks like the battery drained while the bike was off. I'm certain that the rocker was shut off. Regardless, wouldn't the factory connection to this circuit stop draining when the bike is off? I pulled the connection out and haven't done anything else since then. Any thoughts on what to try?
