I have organized some fuel economy data on my V-Strom. These miles per gallon statistics were observed in the years 2008 and 2009 using 89 grade gasoline in Pennsylvania, USA.
| Miles | Gallons | Miles/Gallons |
| 141.4 | 4.59 | 30.81 |
| 147.8 | 4.72 | 31.31 |
| 138.3 | 4.81 | 28.75 |
| 150.1 | 4.60 | 32.63 |
| 155.9 | 4.84 | 32.21 |
| 164.1 | 4.50 | 36.47 |
| 161.5 | 5.14 | 31.42 |
| 168.0 | 5.51 | 30.49 |
| DL1000 Average MPG | 31.76 | |
Your mileage may vary. The riding involved in this study consisted mostly of commuting to and from work over very few highways. If you would like to contribute your own data set to be published, let me know.

Wow, that’s weird… I would not expect the big V to get that low of a MPG? I know it’s apples and organges, but I just completed amost 2000 mile weekend ride (http://www.stromtrooper.com/showthread.php?t=43640) on my Wee and got 52 mpg average, and that is blasting 75+ on highways for hours?

I wasn’t surprised. Suzuki only claims 40MPG for the 2009 http://suzukicycles.com/en/Product%20Lines/Cycles/Products/V-Strom%201000/2009/DL1000.aspx
Did I mention I really like accelerating?
